The state of Qatar acquires the Villa Maarheeze estate in Wassenaar for the purpose of a new embassy.
The state of Qatar and Wassenaar OG announced today that they have reached an agreement on the sale of the Villa Maarheeze estate at Rijksstraatweg 675 in Wassenaar. The country house, which is part of the historic 18,300 m2 estate of Maarheeze, was built in 1914 according to a design by the Hague architect J.J. (Co) Brandes and has a gross floor area of 1,868 m2. The national monument, which had been owned by Wassenaar OG since 2014 and rented out to various organizations, will serve as Qatar's new embassy in the Netherlands. The delivery has already taken place. The off-market sale and delivery of the Villa Maarheeze estate is the end of a careful process of consultation with the buyer and current tenants for a year and a half. The seller was advised in this transaction by Lymos Real Estate Capital Advisors, SITE Real Estate and Loyens & Loeff. The state of Qatar was legally assisted by Monte Legal.

On behalf of Wassenaar OG, Mariette Meulman: "The Villa Maarheeze estate is a monumental building with a monumental garden within the municipality of Wassenaar that we have managed, maintained, optimized and thereby added value for eleven years.
